Duration Increases for the AEWV

From 27 Nov 2023, NZ's AEWV program changes include a new 'maximum stay' and extended visa lengths, affecting application and extension processes.

From 25 November 2023, the Australian Government will be making changes to the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) and Temporary Residence Transition stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) (subclass 187) visas to provide a simpler and clearer pathway to permanent residence for Skilled Workers.

The States and Territories nomination programs have been revised for the 2023-24 program year, with varying criteria for each status.

An essential update from The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the Department of Home Affairs, launching a comprehensive data matching program spanning from 2023-24 to 2025-26 for Australian businesses hiring and sponsoring visa holders.

The New Zealand Government has announced changes to the immigration system to increase protection and support for migrant workers.

From 29 September 2023, the List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment is being updated to coincide with the Green List and Sector Work to Residence (WTR) categories and will mean that the new LQEA will be in place when the new SMC opens on 9 October 2023.

The new median wage of NZD$31.61 per hour will be adopted into the immigration system in February 2024.

From 25 September 2023, Immigration New Zealand will be changing how they respond to false or misleading information in visa applications.
