New Zealand has expanded the Post Study Work Visa eligibility, adding more Green List qualifications and offering flexibility for students completing consecutive qualifications.

Green List changes confirmed

From 29 May 2023, Internal and External Auditors will be added to the ‘Straight to Residence’ Green List pathway, along with a number of roles added to the ‘Work to Residence’ Green List pathway.

With post-accreditation checks underway by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), it is imperative that AEWV employers are compliant with their obligations.

Thirty-two new health roles have been added to the Green List and all health roles on the Green List will be moved to the Straight to Residence pathway.

Partners of AEWV and ESWV holders can apply for their own work visa or a partnership visa based on their relationship to an AEWV or ESWV holder (the Partner of a Worker Work Visa).

In response to the catastrophic devastation caused by Cyclone Gabrielle, the New Zealand Government has announced the launch of the Recovery Visa (a Specific Purpose Work Visas) - available immediately and processed by Immigration NZ within one week.

The median wage will increase to NZD $29.66 on 27 February 2023 which means the criteria to grant visas will also change.

The next selection for the Parent Resident Visa Category expressions of interest (EOIs) will take place on 14 February 2023.

2023 reopening dates for capped Working Holiday Schemes (WHS) have been confirmed, allowing more than 11,000 young people to apply and spend a year or two working and gaining some overseas work experience while they travel around New Zealand.

As planned, the new median wage of NZD $29.66 an hour will be adopted into the immigration system on 27 February 2023.
