The Australian Department of Home Affairs has announced a significant expansion of the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa program, welcoming citizens of the Republic of Philippines to participate starting July 1, 2024.
This change is codified in the Migration (Arrangements for Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) Visa Applications) Amendment (The Philippines) Instrument (LIN 24/041) 2024, which amends previous legislation (LIN 21/019). The new instrument specifies the Philippines as an eligible country for the program and outlines the educational qualifications required for applicants.
Â
Benefits for Applicants:
The Work and Holiday visa program offers Philippines passport holders (aged 18-30) the opportunity to experience Australian life and culture for up to twelve months. This includes the ability to:
• Work short-term jobs to support their travels.
• Travel freely within Australia throughout the visa period.
Â
Educational Qualifications:
To be eligible for the Work and Holiday visa under this new arrangement, Philippines passport holder applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:
• A tertiary qualification (university degree or equivalent).
• Successfully completed at least two years of undergraduate study or post-secondary education.
Â
This expansion of the Work and Holiday program strengthens ties between Australia and the Philippines, fostering cultural exchange and providing valuable work and travel opportunities.
