Changes to migration programs including pathways to PR for STSOL visa holders in health and hospitality and longer SC 485s for international students studying Masters by course work appear to be underway although currently they are in the planning stage.
The Hon Alan Tudge MP, Minister for Education and Youth and the Hon Alex Hawke, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs have jointly announced in a media release, that the Morrison Government will introduce further targeted measures to support the international education sector, as international borders reopen.
It is proposed that changes to visa settings will also provide much needed flexibility for international students as they set to return to Australia. The new settings will extend measures to protect the post-study work rights of international students as well as extend the temporary graduate visa from two to three years for masters by coursework graduates.
Specific details to the changes of migration programs including time frames have not been released as yet. In addition, a legislative change will be required to implement the proposed changes and when this has been approved and details announced, Absolute Immigration will update our news feed.
