Key Updates on Skilled Migration State Nomination Programs for 2023-24

State Nomination

Recent updates on the Tasmanian and South Australian Skilled Migration State Nomination Programs outline important changes and deadlines for applicants.

Closure of registrations of Interest for Tasmania

Migration Tasmania has closed new Registrations of Interest (ROI) for the 2023-24 program year. The following points are pertinent:

  • No further invitations: Migration Tasmania will not issue additional invitations to apply for nomination during this program year.
  • Pending applications: Applicants who have received an invitation can still submit their applications before the invitation’s expiration date.
  • Limited nomination places: Applications already lodged but undecided will continue to be assessed; however, only a few nomination places remain, so not all applicants will be nominated this year.
  • Future considerations: Approved applications that cannot be nominated this year will be prioritised in the 2024-25 program. ROIs with green or gold passes will be retained in the Application Gateway for future consideration.

Further details are available on the Migration Tasmania website.

Closure of registration of Interest for South Australia

South Australia’s skilled migration Registration of Interest (ROI) for onshore applicants has also closed for the 2023-24 program year. Key points include:

  • Onshore closure: No further onshore ROIs will be accepted this program year.
  • Offshore applications: Offshore applicants can still submit a Skill Select Expression of Interest (EOI) and, if successful, receive a direct invitation for state nomination.
  • Processing timeline: All received ROIs will be processed by June 30, 2024. Unsubmitted ROIs in the system will be deleted.
  • Future submissions: Applicants who do not receive an invitation this year are encouraged to submit another ROI for the 2024-25 program.

More information can be found on the South Australian Government’s Skilled and Business Migration website.
