Quarantine-free entry into Australia for Singapore citizens

The Department of Home Affairs has announced that from 21 November 2021, Singapore citizens who are considered fully vaccinated with an approved and recognized vaccine, will be able to travel to participating States and Territories in Australia without quarantining or requiring a travel exemption.

The following criteria must be met by Singapore travellers to ensure eligibility:

  • hold a valid Australian visa. Please note, if a Singaporean citizen is travelling with a family member who is not a citizen of Singapore (and is also not an Australian citizen or permanent resident), those family members are not eligible to travel to Australia without a travel exemption
  • be fully vaccinated with a completed dosage of a vaccine approved or recognised by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Click here for the list.
  • depart from Singapore and arrive in a participating Australian state or territory. At the time of writing this article, the participants are NSW, Victoria, and ACT. Click here to ensure you are viewing the most updated list of participants.
  • provide proof of their vaccination status. Click here for details
  • present a negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test taken within 3 days of departure (unless a medical exemption applies).

Eligible travellers will also be asked to complete an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) at least 72 hours before departure and will not need to have been in Singapore for 14 days before their proposed travel.

If plans are to travel onwards to or through a different state or territory after arriving in Australia, it is important to check domestic travel restrictions. States and territories can apply their own travel restrictions and these get updated at short notice.

This includes student visa holders who have received a confirmation of enrolment to study in an institution outside of participating jurisdictions, as they will need to follow relevant border and quarantine arrangements for the relevant state or territory.
