Migration State Allocations for 2024-2025

The Australian government has released the nomination allocations for the 2024-2025 permanent Migration Program. A total of 16,500 places for 190 visa and 9,760 places for 491 provides valuable insights into opportunities for potential migrants seeking to move to Australia.

 

Nomination allocations for the 2024–25 Migration Program are as follows:

 

Australian Capital Territory: 1,800 places

  • 1,000 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 800 places for 491 visa nominations

New South Wales: 5,000 places

  • 3,000 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 2,000 places for 491 visa nominations

The application process to be announced once available, please stay tuned for an update.

 

Northern Territory: 1,600 places

  • 800 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 800 places for 491 visa nominations

The applications for nomination are now available through the online portal, while offshore nomination applications are temporarily suspended and expected to be re-opened by 12 August 2024. For details, please check here.

 

Queensland: 1,200 places

  • 600 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 600 places for 491 visa nominations

Far North Queensland DAMA: the Cairns Chamber of Commerce is available for further Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) concessions and additional occupations.

Skills Assessing Authorities

  • Personal Care Assistant & Nursing Support Worker: ANMAC has been the assessing authority since 1 July 2024. Skills assessments initiated before this date will still be honoured.
  • Outside School Hours Care Worker: ACECQA has been the assessing authority since 1 July 2024. Skills assessments initiated before this date will still be honoured.
  • Other occupations (FNQ DAMA Occupation List): VETASSESS is confirmed as the assessing authority for various occupations, including those added in December 2023,

 

Employer Nomination Scheme 186 (FNQ DAMA Labour Agreement Stream) and Skill Assessments

  • A skills assessment is required for all nominations/visas for ENS (Sc 186) visa holders if the prior work experience was on any visa other than a Temporary Skill Shortage (Sc 482) visa.
  • Employers who have received incorrect requests for a skills assessment for the ENS 186 visa should contact the requesting case officer for correction.

South Australia: 3,800 places

  • 3,000 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 800 places for 491 visa nominations

 

The nominated migration program is now available to submit the Registration of Interest.

Onshore streams: the three types of onshore streams are suitable for those currently residing in Australia and meet the eligibility requirements

  • Skilled Employment in South Australia stream: suitable for applicants who have shown commitment and work experience in their skilled occupation in SA.
  • South Australian Graduates stream: suitable for those who have studied and work in SA in their skilled occupation.
  • Outer Regional Skilled Employment stream: aims to support regional development by addressing skills shortages in outer regional areas of SA. Applicants who work in their nominated or closely related occupations are encouraged to apply.

 

Offshore Stream: Overseas skilled workers may now be available to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and select South Australia as their primary state of interest.

 

Tasmania: 2,860 places

  • 2,100 places for 190 visa nominations
  • 760   places for 491 visa nominations

 

Registrations of Interest are now open with several updates in eligibility requirements, policy guidance and service fees.

Key features:

  • Change to priority attributes: there is a reduction in green attributes, and a new “orange-plus” attribute category is introduced. Candidates with at least one Orange-Plus attribute will be invited to apply for nomination. More details related to Priority attributes for selection, please refer here.
  • Eligibility: all occupations on the Australian Government’s subclass 190 and 491 lists remain eligible for nomination in at least one pathway.
  • New occupations: addition of 18 new occupation groups to the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List for the subclass 190 pathway (including 78 individual occupations). Candidates with relevant skills assessment and direct employment can qualify for permanent visa nomination after six months of work.
  • Income threshold changes: updates to income thresholds in minimum eligibility requirements and average earnings based on Australian median and average earnings, as well as the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold.
  • Critical roles list updated: for gold priority in Tasmania Skilled Employment, Skilled Graduate, and Established Resident pathways
  • Service fee updated: nomination application fee increased to $360 (plus $36 GST), with no charge to submit a Registration of Interest.

Victoria: 5,000 places

  • 2,000 places for 491 visa nominations

 

Victoria’s 2024-25 Skilled Migration Program for 190 and 491 visas is now open to new Registrations of Interest.

To be considered for a Victorian skilled visa nomination, applicants are required to create or update an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Australian Government’s SkillSelect system and then submit a Registration of Interest (ROI).

Meanwhile, there is an update in the priority sectors and increased allocation in Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa subclass (491) nomination places. It is suggested to submit a new Registration of Interest as the previous year’s submission is no longer valid.

The nominated migration program is now open. The WA government will provide equal invitation ranking for both interstate and overseas candidates while continuing to waive the $200 application fee. Additionally, the program includes the following features:

Priority invitations will be given to candidates with skills in occupations that are in critical demand within Western Australia’s industry sectors.

Reduced employment requirements to candidates invited through occupations in the WA building and construction industry sector (as classified on the WA State Nomination Occupation Lists).

Additional employment contract arrangements for candidates invited through the General Stream – WASMOL. For more information, please refer here
