IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) is now available for test takers of certain visa subclasses and the Department of Home Affairs has accepted this option for immigration purposes.
If you recently took an IELTS test, you could retake one of the four test components in either reading, writing, speaking, or listening (once only) to achieve your migration goals.
Which visas have the OSR option?
For Australian visa purposes, the Department will accept IELTS test results that include OSR for most of the visas, with the exception of applications for subclasses 476, 482, and 485, which need scores from a single sitting or attempt.
It is important to check the Department’s website to understand for which visa subclasses you can use IELTS One Skill Retake.
How does OSR work?
If you need to improve in just one area, IELTS One Skill Retake allows you to retake one of the four skills on both Academic and General Training tests within 60 days of your original test.
Initially, the OSR will only be available for test takers who have taken an IELTS on computer test at an eligible test centre in Melbourne, but it is expected that this option will be available at more test centres in Australia in early 2023.
