An estimated 40,000 skilled migrants on 482 and 457 visas are currently stuck offshore due to travel restrictions, some of whom have not made their initial entry into Australia and others who have had to return to their home countries due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Under the new policy measure, those affected will now be able to apply for a waiver of the VAC for their subsequent applications, allowing them to return to Australia once travel restrictions are lifted.<\/p>\n
