{"id":7665,"date":"2020-11-09T15:09:12","date_gmt":"2020-11-09T15:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coffeeobsession.com.au\/?p=4742"},"modified":"2023-10-20T06:43:49","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T06:43:49","slug":"new-eta-app-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/absoluteimmigration.com\/news\/new-eta-app-launched","title":{"rendered":"New ETA App launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Home Affairs has launched a new Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) App for holders of passports from the countries below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brunei &#8211; Darussalam<\/li>\n<li>Canada<\/li>\n<li>Hong Kong (SAR PRC)<\/li>\n<li>Japan<\/li>\n<li>Malaysia<\/li>\n<li>Singapore<\/li>\n<li>Republic of South Korea<\/li>\n<li>United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is an ETA?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An ETA provides authorisation to travel to and enter Australia and is electronically linked to your passport.<\/p>\n<p>It is for short term stays for tourism or business visitor activities such as attending a conference, making business enquiries, or for contractual negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>An ETA is not a work visa. If you would like to work in Australia you must determine which visa is suitable for your needs and visit.<\/p>\n<p>You still need to be granted a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/absoluteimmigration.com\/en\/articles\/travel-ban-exemption\">travel exemption<\/a>\u00a0in order to enter Australia at this time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applying for an ETA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to apply for an ETA you must hold one of the passports listed above and the details provided for your ETA applications must exactly match your details as they appear on your passport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eta.homeaffairs.gov.au\/ETAS3\/etas?locale=en&amp;tab=&amp;submit=apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You can apply online here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To apply online you must be outside Australia.<\/p>\n<p>If you aren\u2019t eligible to apply online you may be able to apply through a travel agent, airline or an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immi.homeaffairs.gov.au\/help-support\/contact-us\/offices-and-locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian visa office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions of an ETA are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is your responsibility to know what your visa allows you to do while in Australia.<\/li>\n<li>After your ETA is granted you are able to enter and leave Australia as many times as you need to during a 12 month period, from the date the ETA is granted or until the expiry date of your passport, whichever is earlier.<\/li>\n<li>You can stay in Australia for a maximum of three months on each visit.<\/li>\n<li>You must not study for more than three months.<\/li>\n<li>You must be free from tuberculosis.<\/li>\n<li>You must not have any criminal convictions for which you have been sentenced for a total combined period of 12 months or more, whether or not you served the sentence\/s.<\/li>\n<li>It is illegal to work on an ETA. Whilst on an ETA you have no right to work in Australia.
