New Zealand visitor visa fee reduction for Pacific travellers

Planning a trip to New Zealand from the Pacific? Travelling to New Zealand may soon become more affordable. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced they will reduce the cost of a visitor visa for nationals of Pacific Islands Forum countries as part of a one-year policy trial aimed at improving regional mobility from 1 June 2026.

Under the change, the total visitor visa cost will drop from $216 to $161, including the standard immigration levy. The reduction represents a meaningful decrease in visa costs and forms part of New Zealand’s broader efforts to strengthen travel and connections across the Pacific region. Lower visa fees may help make visits more accessible for families, friends and community organisations across the Pacific.
