The New Zealand Government has announced updates to the Migrant Exploitation Protection Work Visa (MEPV) to further enhance protection for migrant workers.
Effective from 31 October 2024, applicants are no longer able to obtain a second MEPV. This change supports the Government’s commitment to combatting migrant exploitation and protecting the integrity of New Zealand’s immigration system.
Migrants experiencing exploitation can report it to Employment New Zealand via their online form or by calling 0800 200 088. This service is free from any landline or mobile in New Zealand.
For further information, please visit the Migrant Exploitation Protection Work Visa page on the New Zealand immigration website.
If your organisation hires overseas employees, staying informed about these updates is essential.
