The New Zealand government’s Migrant Exploitation Protection Work Visa (MEPV) Short-Term Support Package is nearing its end. The program, which provided temporary financial assistance to exploited migrant workers, is set to expire on March 18, 2024.

What was the program?

The initiative aimed to help eligible MEPV holders find stable housing and secure employment in New Zealand. It was administered by a third-party organization, NFACT (New Settlers Family and Community Trust).

Key Points:

• This does not affect the validity of MEPV visas or the ability of MEPV holders to work in New Zealand.

• MEPV holders receiving support have been contacted and reminded of the program’s end and their visa obligations.

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) encourages MEPV holders to take the necessary steps to ensure their continued lawful stay in New Zealand after the program ends.
