1st July 2020

The Department of Home Affairs has advised State and Territory Government’s they would not be receiving nomination allocations for skilled visa subclasses 491 and 190 on 1 July 2020. As a result most States and Territories have announced that their skilled migration programs will remained closed until further notice.

This means Sate and Territory Governments’ are unable to nominate either existing or intending applicants in those visa subclasses.

We understand that the Department may make further announcements to the State and Territory governments about nomination allocations ahead of the 2020-21 Budget being handed down on 6 October 2020.

Along with the temporary suspension of the 491 and 190 visas, there has been no confirmation from the government with respect to allocations given to each state under Business Innovation and Investment Program for the 2020-21 program year.

If you have questions about any of these visa programs please get in touch with us directly.

Please note: this does not impact other visa subclasses or applications already lodged.
